I am writing today about a few of my personal favorite 80s horror movies. I know my list is not the most complete, or definitive BEST of the 80s, but I would simply like to start a discussion on the topic. Please feel free to reply with some of your favorites, or feedback about the ones I have chosen.

Killer Klowns From Outer Space

I cannot honestly count the number of times I've watched this classic in my lifetime. It has long been a favorite of mine, and the news of a sequel (actually being handled by the original creators the Chiodo brothers), is news that made me genuinely happy. Long live Killer Klowns From Outer Space!!!

Friday The 13th Part 3

Not only the first Friday movie I remember seeing, the first film I can clearly recall at all is pt 3.. IN 3D! The plot, the same as any other Friday film, kids acting stupid, Jason has to kill them. The execution, rough, but perfectly fun and worth a thousand views. The 80s created a star, when Jason donned the mask for the first time in this one.

Halloween 2

I am from the camp of Halloween 2 fans. I prefer the sequel to the original. While the original is still necessary to understand the plot completely, the thought of being near crippled, and resuscitating in a hospital WITH Michael Meyers is one of infinite creep-abilities. The seamless carryover from the original also makes this one a cut above the original, in my esteemed opinion.

Return of the Living Dead

Bringing zombies back the american shores, and making them hip, and hilarious make Return a classic. And who doesen't like naked girls predicting their deaths, and then watching it play out? Not to be outdone, Return 3 is also a great film.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2

The pinnacle of 80s sleazy slasher comedy, the sequel to the immortal Texas Chainsaw Massacre, is a gem. When director of both, Tobe Hooper got miffed that noone got the comedy in the original, he decided to go all out and make the sequel so tongue in cheek, it was impossible not to get it. Leatherface grinding with a chainsaw, and Bill Moseley smashing a mans head in with a hammer... Ahh the glorious 80s.

Evil Dead 2

I fucking defy you to find me one person who was not enthralled during the Bruce Campbell vs His hand fight... I defy you to....
